1 The Overview

Corrosion is a very serious phenomenon that affects oil and water well production and wellbore during oilfield development,the scrapping of oil and water wells caused by corrosion and perforation of oil and water well casings, corrosion and perforation of various pipelines, frequent replacement and scrapping of production equipment due to corrosion, and shortened operation cycles due to corrosion damage to downhole pipe and rod pumps, etc. all bring huge economic losses to the production of oil fields .The essence of corrosion is the ionization of atoms on the metal surface,the electrochemical corrosion in the electrolyte is more obvious,the ground and underground pipes used in oil fields are all underground or in the electrolyte solution of the well fluid.,The corrosion of metals caused by the action is an obvious feature of oilfield corrosion. Especially in oil and water wells, the electrochemical corrosion caused by different metal materials is particularly obvious.

4 The Principle

In oil development, the casing passes through different formations and water layers, and is constantly corroded in the soil environment.

The sacrificial anode for casing uses cathodic protection technology to install and fix an anode alloy with a relatively negative potential on the outer wall of the casing. When the casing is run, it is dropped into the well. The sacrificial anode provides a cathodic current to polarize the casing,then, get protected.
